True Blood: Fairy Loathing in Louisiana?

I'm indifferent about vampires, but I love HBO's True Blood.

After watching last week's season four premiere, namely Sookie and Granddaddy Earl's fight scene (shown below), it came to me.  We might just have an episodic case of fairy loathing in Louisiana.

Not to be confused with Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Although, if I'm being honest, my blog header photo bears a striking resemblance to this series of Loathing photos.  What do you think?

Baby Talk without the Babble starring Johnny 'Be-A-Good-Boy' Depp and Benicio Del Toddler.  I might be on to something here?

Anyhow, I can't wait for tonight's new episode...

An Education.

I dreamt of jazz and Paris as a young girl, so this film (with its coming-of-age story) really hit home.

Not to mention, I love London and all things BRIT-vintage.  (And despite my husband's insistence, we will live there for while.)

I mean, I could listen to Dusty Springfield for a lifetime and never grow tired.  I could watch To Sir with Love over and over and over...

With endearing performances by Alfred Molina and Rosamund Pike (to name a few), this film is a current fave.  Although I must argue, the last 10 minutes fell a bit short.  Too much 'tie-it-up-with-a-bow' cinematic music, but...

An Education is still worth watching.  I must also say, from one Mulligan to another:  Carey, you nailed it!

15 for the 14th.

What can I say about LOVE that hasn't already been said?  It's easy at times, hard at others, unrequited, unbelievable, underplayed...

If you're feeling the love, or not, this Valentine's Day, here are 15 of my favorite happily-sad films.  For your viewing pleasure, they are:

Alice Adams   Waterloo Bridge   A Summer Place

Roman Holiday (Special Collector's Edition)   The Apartment (Collector's Edition)   Splendor in the Grass

Wuthering Heights (Import, All Regions)   The Princess Bride (Special Edition)    Amelie

Love Story   Romeo & Juliet   An Officer and a Gentleman (Special Collector's Edition)

La Strada - Criterion Collection   Lady Jane   Breathless

Despite its fickle nature, I choose to love first, and live incidentally!

If It Never Stops At All.

I love the classics, and it's my hope to teach my boy to love 'em too.  So, I'm getting him started young.  Here's a perfect clip for today...

Don't get me wrong though, I also appreciate current takes on golden-era hits.  For instance, GLEE rocks, and Lady Paltrow nailed this!

Just in case you're wondering, it's a wet one here.  I love it, too!

Rain, pell, mell.  And we'll not complain if never stops at all.  We'll live and love within our own four walls.  -- The Fantasticks

LIONS and Tigers and BIRDS.

I'm a dreamer, and romantic.  I'd be LION if I said otherwise.  So, I look to share, over the course of this next week, a few dreams...

For one, I want to take Aksel on an African safari.

The cutest lion, Cal.

I want the look of wonderment to twinkle in his eyes, as he watches wild animals run free.  Namely, lions and tigers and bears.

Maybe not bears, but you catch my drift.

Wait.  I've got it!

I want the look of wonderment to twinkle in his eyes, as he watches wild animals run/fly free.  Namely, lions and tigers and BIRDS.

Outbursts aside, I'm wanderlust.  And to my credit, I've traveled a fair amount for my years.  I don't wish to stop though.  I want more!

I want to sail the high seas, and teach my child to be compassionate of those less fortunate, to form opinions about cultures different from his own, and lastly, to appreciate everything that's open to him in this life.  Basically, I want Aksel to care.

A long deep sight later...

In all reality, I'll most likely settle on an outing to the zoo, or better yet, Disney World.  But a dreams a dream, and it's worth keeping.

So, we'll see what happens.
