True Blood: Fairy Loathing in Louisiana?

I'm indifferent about vampires, but I love HBO's True Blood.

After watching last week's season four premiere, namely Sookie and Granddaddy Earl's fight scene (shown below), it came to me.  We might just have an episodic case of fairy loathing in Louisiana.

Not to be confused with Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Although, if I'm being honest, my blog header photo bears a striking resemblance to this series of Loathing photos.  What do you think?

Baby Talk without the Babble starring Johnny 'Be-A-Good-Boy' Depp and Benicio Del Toddler.  I might be on to something here?

Anyhow, I can't wait for tonight's new episode...

L.A. at Last!

While I'm on the topic of laughter, here's my favorite funny television clip from the long-gone series, I Love Lucy.

If you're a classic film/television enthusiast, I recommend watching this episode - L.A. at Last! - in its entirety.

It was, for me, the first instance I remember bellowing at the telly!

Laughing feels great, do it TODAY!

Oscar Mania!

I have Oscar mania, and I can't wait for tonight's award ceremonies!

Like most performing hopefuls, I've long-envisioned attending the illustrious event. To take it one step further, I've imagined accepting my statue, too.

Yeah, right?! Ha! We can always dream though...

In the meantime, I'll stick with just being an extra, but tomorrow's 5:30 am call-time is early. So, here's hoping Hathaway and Franco don't run over. I need my beauty rest!

PS - Look for my "nosey neighbor" (think Gladys Kravitz) window-scene next Sunday, March 6 at 9 pm on Lifetime's Army Wives.

PPS - Fingers-crossed the camera doesn't really add 10 pounds!

The Primary Point.

The primary point of this post:  I LOVE vintage toys!  See below...

I also enjoy watching television shows like American Pickers and Pawn Stars.  Basically, old relics, family heirlooms, and another man's junk have always interested me.  This probably has a lot to do with my mother.  More on this later though...

Notice the sign.

Tom Ate Jerry.

It's widely known across the blogosphere that I'm the proud mother of a handsome young toddler, but I wear yet another mommy hat.  I am also maternal caretaker for Fancy the cat.

For the sake of humor, my dog-like cat, Fancy, will be referred to in this post as Tom.  And the mouse in question (because there is one) will obviously be called Jerry.  Ya catch my theme?

That's beside the point just now though.

As I was saying, Tom is a pleasure to have, a calming source with fur, and above all else, a most tolerant friend to my boy.  My
often-poking, whisker-yanking, tail-pulling, just-plain-curious boy.

Well folks, somewhere in the mix Tom's gone slighted, because our
twenty-pound cat is acting different.  For one, she's been urinating on Aksel's rug.  And last night, for example, whilst on an outdoor bathroom adventure, Tom ate Jerry.  No.  Let me get this right, Tom decapitated Jerry and displayed, most conspicuously, her rodent corpse on the doormat.

I understand this is normal feline behavior, but Tom usually leaves it to the imagination, or in the driveway, at least?!

Despite my gagging, I praised Tom for being such a skilled hunter, however, I'm concerned.

Should I leave ol' Tom outside for worry of germs, or should I just rub her a little more often?  Tom ate Jerry, and I know she's just asserting her familial seniority...

A Hair Theory.

A BLOG CONTINUATION...

My little man is in love with a cartoon character!  He's desperately seeking Dora!  His infatuation with this fictional doodle leads me to believe Aksel has a thing for dark-haired women.

Call it momma's hair theory!

I first made the correlation a few months back when we were cozied 'round the table with good friends, and Aksel did a double-take?!

My girlfriend, Anna, who has long, dark flowing locks swooped him up for a feeding, and my bugger focused and refocused and furrowed his brow.  He was blatantly confused by the dark hair similarity we share!  Within minutes though, he relaxed and began to baby-flirt.

He displays similar charming behavior with my sister, Bridgette, too!

Basically, Aksel's crooked bottom tooth is on full display when there's a brunette in the room.  He smiles the whole time.  It's adorable!

That's all I've got for now.  Little man's on the move, and I've got to come to the quick mommy rescue!

Is it a coincidence Kieran (pronounced KEER-en) translates to mean black in Gaelic?

A Baby Want Ad!

If I were to pen a personal classified ad for my chubbo bubbo, it would probably go a little something like this...

(Think match.com® for babies!)
__________________________________________________________

cookiebatch.com ®

Find your love.  It's FREE to cook!

AKSEL from Charleston writes:

Tall, dark, and plump seven-month-old seeking a little lady with a bob. In order to maintain my attention, seƱorita must be...

(1) bilingual with chestnut-colored hair

(2) a friend to all shoe-wearing animals

(3) willing to ask for directions when lost

(4) a light-packing globetrotter suited for travel in bright clothes

(FYI:  I like older women, and for me, it's all in the way she walks!)

_________________________________________________________

Are you just a little curious as to whom my child deems his ideal?  Well, if you're a new mother and you don't know yet, just you wait, you'll know soon enough!

First, a back story.

My child loves to watch television!  Aksel is entranced by it actually, but... DON'T BE CONFUSED!  I'm not some sort of deadbeat mom who places her lonely child in front a screen to wither away and answer life's questions on his own!  He is totally and completely and really mesmerized by the colors, sounds, and songs of preschool programming.

He loves and jerks his head around at full-speed to watch the following shows:

  • Yo Gabba Gabba (AKSEL'S FAVORITE!)
  • Wonder Pets
  • Ni Hao Ka-Lain, and
  • Dora the Explorer
I'm told this baby apple doesn't fall far from his momma tree!

To take it a step further, my parents who agree on very, very few things, both insist I was wholly intrigued by PBS as a kid.  In particular, Sesame Street.  They tell me I watched the same hour-long episode twice a day, and during each showing, demanded silence as I sat 24 inches from the screen.

To the credit of PBS show creators, I was reading early, and excelled in the classroom.  I hope nickjr® pulls through for my laddy!

Now, back to the cookiebatch.com® point of this entry.

My little man, much like his mommy before him, is in love with a television doodle. Aksel is desperately seeking Dora.  (As a youngster, I had the tot-hots for piano-playing Schroeder, from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!)

His infatuation with this fictional character leads me to believe --

To be blog continued...

I was Lucy in my high-school production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!
I sang this song to a GIRL dressed up as Schroeder.  The love affair died at that point!
